Analysis of children's drawings

Learn to understand your child better in a special way

This is a small text area for the description of the project. Write a bit about the purpose, inspiration or success of the project here and let the images tell the rest of the story.

Find out what your child wants to tell you!

EEvery day you walk around worrying about your child. You know for sure that something is going on, that everything is going on in your child, but what is the problem? No idea!

Your child has suddenly changed completely. Where it used to be always happy and content, your child is now quiet and withdrawn with frequent tantrums.

You have made several attempts to find out what happened, but nothing seems to work.

But maybe you know all too well what caused the change in your child, because you are in a difficult period or something bad has happened. You want to know what's going on in your child's head.

Not being able to help your child is the worst feeling a mother can have.

❤ But what if I tell you that you probably already have an enormous wealth of information in your hands. Chances are that it is right in front of you, but that you have no idea!

❤ And what if I teach you how you can help your child through an angry mood in a very simple way.

❤ And what you can pay attention to to quickly notice when something is going on with your child.

This is all possible with simply drawing and knowing the meaning of your child's artworks!

Children's drawings

Children are sometimes unable, willing, allowed or afraid to talk. For example, because they are still very young and therefore do not have the right words. They may not feel safe talking. Or everything is happening inside them that they cannot express. They can give free rein to all those feelings, emotions and events on paper and in their games. You can make everything happen in it, without affecting the real world. This way you can discharge tension and give everything a place.

Children's drawings are therefore very special! They give you a glimpse into the magical inner world of your child. If you understand what they are drawing, you will understand your child much better. You will be amazed at how much information can be extracted from a drawing. Looking at the colors, the energy, the placement on the sheet and so much more, we can better understand a child.
Children can put everything in their drawings:
- Processing emotions and events
- Wishes and desires
- They mirror their environment
- Their self-image
- How they experience their family
- Practicing (drawing) skills
- Their development
When the drawing or the game is finished, the tension is gone. Often a child moves on and everything is okay again. Drawings of children are therefore usually snapshots. If certain (elements in) drawings recur often, this is a signal that there may be more to it. It may be that your child is in a process of processing, but it may also be that a certain topic in his or her life needs attention. For some children, drawing analysis can be life-changing because they are finally understood. This allows you to give them the guidance they need.

Workshop analyzing children's drawings

I give workshops on this topic. There are still far too few people who know about this way of communicating with children. And I would like to change that!

The basic workshop that I give contains the following parts:
- The value of children's drawings
- Tips to stimulate creativity and get valuable drawings
- The character development and meaning of different elements
- Meaning of colors and common symbols.

This basic workshop can be expanded in consultation. Each student receives a handy booklet with the workshop, so that they can read and write along with the slides.

With her knowledge and expertise, Alexandra has been an inspiring guest lecturer for our students of the (specialized) pedagogical work of the Summacollege in Eindhoven.
The students were amazed and interested in learning about the world behind the children's drawing.
They are not only challenged to stimulate the creativity of the children, but are also offered tips on how to use drawing as a way in which even the little ones can express themselves.
A beautiful message that I would not have liked to keep from my students.
Alexandra's presentation is a must for anyone who works with children.

Alexandra tells a clear and accessible story. It is well supported by a good presentation and a booklet for everyone to join
looking, reading and possibly writing or drawing.
What we have seen is how children's drawings can be meaningful, there is a story behind each drawing. We also have the phases in
ages and the drawings that go with them are clearly shown. What is normal per age and about the same for everyone and what says
for example use of color actually in a drawing?

For a childminder it was an eye-opener on certain points to look at drawings differently and to start a conversation about them, for example
with a child. The value of drawings will now be recognized earlier and better by childminders. It is also good to release children in this,
so that they can indicate and show what is on their mind and use their imagination. Control is therefore not always necessary.

I definitely recommend Alexandra as a course teacher, her workshop was interesting fun and educational!
